A while ago, screensavers were only used to prevent protphosphor burn-in on CRT and plasma computer monitors by blanking the screen or filling it with moving images or patterns when the computer was not in use. Today's screensavers are used primarily for entertainment or security, as the display technology is far more advanced and CRT monitors are getting fewer and fewer, making way for LCDs. Every Windows operating system comes with some screensavers built-in but most of them are extremely simple and certainly no eye-candy. It would be great if you could create your own screensaver out of Flash files, for example. That's because Flash files are widely spread and they can contain numerous media elements. Now you can do this with the help of the InstantStorm software. Basically, this program allows anyone to create screensavers from any SWF file.

The installation process of InstantStorm is point and click and completes very fast, without requiring much intervention from the user. Windows XP up to Windows 7 are all supported for running the program.

The interface of InstantStorm features a simple wizard that allows even beginners to create Flash screensavers from scratch. Thus, the user just has to select a SWF file, an image file to act like a screensaver cover and that's it. After completing this, all that's left to do is exporting the screensaver. At this point, InstantStorm allows creating regular screensaver files or Windows installer which can automatically add the screensaver into the operating system. Screensavers can be previewed before they are published, allowing the user to make sure that everything went well.

Pros:
It features a simple wizard for creating screensavers, that can be used by any type of user, no matter what level of experience he has. Besides that, screensavers can be exported to regular Windows installers that can automatically add the screensaver into the operating system.

Cons:
The software includes not so many features for customizing the screensaver creation process. Besides that, the program only supports SWF files.

InstantStorm is a great screensaver creator that allows anyone to build screensavers from any SWF file with minimum effort.
